About the AWI Certification and Accreditation

The AWI evaluates and verifies the architectural woodworker's abilities to produce architectural woodwork in accordance with the comprehensive, time-tested and performance-proven industry Standards. AWI first published the Quality Standards Illustrated (QSI) in 1961. It is the most widely referenced industry standard, and its sequel is the Architectural Woodwork Standards (AWS). Collectively, these publications are the Standards. This enables design professionals and building owners to substantiate the competence of architectural woodwork manufacturers on a project-specific basis.

Incorporated in early 2007, The AWI Quality Certification Corporation (QCC) is an autonomous organization which administers the AWI Quality Certification Program (QCP). QCC is a 501(c)6 trade association headquartered in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC.

The AWI Quality Certification Program (QCP) is a valuable quality assurance tool that seeks to ensure that interior architectural woodwork meets the project's specifications and industry standards. The General Services Administration (GSA) and the American Subcontractors Association (ASA) endorse the QCP.

The Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) is a nonprofit trade association which promotes the architectural woodwork industry. AWI provides educational programs, publications and information, marketing opportunities, career skills, and technical advice to both members and the industry.

The QCC board of directors is comprised of industry representatives from the architectural woodworking, construction and architectural professions. The board sets corporate policies as it pertains to governance and fiduciary responsibility. Through its oversight of operations, it verifies compliance with federal and local laws, and with the credentialing industry's best practices.
